Mutual Consent Ends Three-and-a-Half-Year Tenure
West Ham United have officially announced the departure of manager David Moyes, effective at the end of the current season. The decision was made by mutual consent after a challenging campaign for the Hammers.
Moyes took over as the club's 16th permanent manager in November 2017 and initially enjoyed success. Under his leadership, West Ham reached the semifinals of the 2018-19 FA Cup and finished 10th in the Premier League that same season. However, the team struggled this year, finishing 16th in the table and facing criticism for poor performances.
Moyes has thanked West Ham for the opportunity and wished the club well in the future. The Hammers are now expected to begin the search for a new manager ahead of the 2022-23 season.
